love spring

Have had a few frosty mornings this week and has made my walk to work quite brisk so it looks like winter is well on its way. Cold wet days means that I can spend more time inside doing what I love (scrappin) instead of feeling guilty about the garden and the weeds but it does mean standing in the cold watching net ball and spending more money on heating the house. Anyway thinking of winter has got me thinking about spring and I think that is my favourite season so I am Happy to Scrap this old spring picture and use the power of positive thought even though it is getting quite grey outside. This layout is using the sketch at http://www.letsgetsketchy and this is what I did with it. Loving the buttons do not use them often enough. This sketch is amazing and I am pleased with the outcome. Note the hexagons I feel a new obsession growing. So what is your favourite season.  Kirsty

father and daughter

Hi back to show what I have scrapped this weekend. This fortnights challenge over at http://southerngirlschallenge.blogspot.co.nz/ is to get out your punches and use them on a layout. I don't use my punches very much and so again this was a challenge I had seen an inspirational layout using punches while surfing the net and I took some of those elements and used them in my layout. This is what I have created
have enjoyed using the punch this weekend and am impressed with what I have created, may have to use them again in the future. Looking forward to a long weekend next weekend. will up date then bye for now Kirsty

lake tutira church

This week we visited the Guthrie smith arboretum at Tutira while there we took a quick trip to the Tutira church. from the church window you get a great view if the lake and surrounding areas. I took what I thought was a beautiful photo of the cross at the alter and the lake with the sky. Unfortunate when I went to get it printed out in the bigger size for this challenge the photo didn't turn out the way I envisioned was just about to change my selection of photos but then had the problem where I just kept coming back to this photo and in the end I decided to challenge my self and see if it would work. Am pleased with the result but do believe that it would have looked better had the photo printed properly. Any way what do you guys think this is what I came up with
this is for the website http://challengemehappy thanks for looking. Kirsty

kind, smart, important

Am loving hexagons at the moment and until recently have not had the means to template or punch them and my free hand skills are not the best so was very keen to use them when the studio calico kit arrived earlier this week.  I plan to use  a lot more of them in my layouts especially with the handy stamp that was sent with the kit.. Last week I had a whole lot more photos printed and so the selection for this weeks layout was a bit overwhelming especially with over two hundred photos in my tin now, oh well more excuses to scrap as if I really needed one. Am quite happy with how this layout turned out, Hannah got a camera for Christmas and so has taken alot of self portrait photos lately some a quite cheesy as only a fourteen year old does, but a handful of them were what I believe are usable. This is I sketch that I used
  from http://www.letsgetsketchy.

and this is what I have decided to do with the sketch  anyway thanks for looking and I will catch up again next weekend. Kirsty

Havelock north intermediate

These photos are quite old so it is good to get them scrapped. I was slowly making it through my stash with only 135 photos in my tin left to scrap but the computer store had 9 cent prints so now the total has increased by another 95 prints lol. This is the sketch over at www.letsgetsketchy and here is what I have decided to do with it. I hope that everyone had an amazing mothers day, although it may not be mothers day in other parts of the world, it is great having my daughter working now and she was able to buy me a mothers day gift for the first time not that I don't appreciate the home made gifts that I have received in the past but this year we were both able to go girly shopping and I got some chockies for her, I mean for me, and the Fifty shades of grey book. Hope everyone has a great week will update next weekend. thanks for looking Kirsty

findley

OK another week over and some more scrappin achieved. This week over at southerngirlschallenge was to do a layout of a boy because last fortnight it was the girls layout. this was another struggle because I don't often do boy layouts in fact out of the 135 photos in my tin only five of them featured boys so my options were limited. Anyway went searching for inspiration and came out with the following layout . The weather here is a bit overcast and so the colours don't show up as vibrant as what they are in real life but you get the general impression. thanks for looking have a nice weekend

magic

The challenge for this weekend was a black white and red challenge over at http://challengemehappy and this is what I created using this combination.
I think this is a very pretty layout and the colours work well together. Another old photo from my stash was used so that is always a bonus. I don't often do stamping on my layouts and I have lots of stamps that don't get used that often so I am pretty stoked with the way they turned out as well. Anyway must be getting on with my mundane tasks, thanks for looking have an awesome week.

with you its always black and white

This is my favourite layout at the moment. I love the contrast between the black and the white. Its not often I draw on my layouts and so this was a bit out of my comfort zone but look at what I have created. Its a bit hard to read the title from my photo but I have called it "with you its always black and white " you can see it better in real life but you get the drift. I am still learning to take the perfect photo that does my layouts justice. Any a pretty normal week in my part of the woods this week. Thanks for looking and I appreciate your positive comments.
